When we arrived at the Canton Qualifiers, we did very well. Although we thought we had an okay chance, we actually were the 1st place seeded team after the qualifying rounds. Our alliance partners, the Blown Fuses and Bionic Broncos, assisted us in winning the semi-final rounds. For the final rounds, just when we had thought we lost, it turned out that the other teams had gotten a major penalty for blocking, so we had won! 104-64! We had also won the Connect award. It was a great day and first experience for most of the team.

On Saturday the 22 of November, we went to the Canton Qualifier and we did our first judging interview. Casey couldn't make it so Brooke took over her part. We were picked to be in one the final alliances. We made it to the final match but we lost. Brooke was our top cheering squad! She danced her way through the competition. It turned out that we were finalist for 4 different awards. We were bummed that we didn't get any of them but we soon found out we won the 1st place INSPIRE Award. This award ensured that we would make it to States. :)
See description of the Inspire award at http://www.usfirst.org/roboticsprograms/ftc/ftc-awards The Purple Protons are excited to say they are ready for the new season and hope to participate in competitions this November. They have a new team with one returning member and a returning mentor to coach them to the competition.
The Purple Protons were very successful at the State level coming home with a first place Inspire award and Promote award. We also were nominated for several other awards. Since we received 1st place for the Inspire award, the Purple Protons are advancing to Super-Regionals, held in Iowa City. We want to congratulate all the other teams that went to States with us in Marshall, Michigan, and we wish all the advancing teams good luck.
In the awards, we were...
Nominated for: Motivate award Design award Won: Inspire award, 2nd place Connect award Which means....................WE ARE OFFICIALLY GOING TO STATES! YAY! Good job to all the teams and good luck to all the other FTC teams. Woah!!!!!!!!!! Apparently, a team can alliance with another team in the top four. To replace that alliance, the next ranking team will come. Since we are 7th, we actually got pulled in as one of the captain teams. Leo was put in the spotlight but kept his cool and picked The Screaming Eagles as our alliance. We didn't win the whole thing, but were glad that we were able to compete in that part.
In the robot part, we placed 7th. Hats off to: Alp, Evelyn, Kristina, Parker and Zack. You guys are a great driving team. This means that we won't get to pick an alliance team, but hopefully one will pick us. Even if we don't, there are still awards...
Its finally here! There are so many new teams from all over the state here today. We'll try to keep you guys posted on all our big events.
Since we're a rookie team, we wanted to see the field, so the whole team went to robot inspection. The judges would make sure that Bob fit all of the requirements and that we had done all necessary tasks to prepare him for tomorrow. While most of the team was helping with that, Leo and I went to interview other teams for alliances. We got to meet many people from tons of different places. Most of the teams were rookies, but there were a few second timers. We wish all the competing FTC teams good luck.
Positively, Purple Protons Blog Team We went to the Mindfill robotics scrimmage today. We tweaked the robot multiple times and were able to compete against other teams four times. Since we are a rookie team, the scrimmage was helpful because we got a taste of the competition involved in FTC.
